Preparation Class 1b

On Tuesday we finished the second half of our class, Preparation Class 1b .  The classes we take are meant to educate us on the process of adoption and give us insight through the experiences of families that have already gone through the process.  The hope, I believe, is that we will have a full picture of what this journey will be like.  Tuesday a mother came in, with one of her two sons, adopted through FCCA, and shared her story.  She participated in the California Waiting Children program so a lot of the information did not necessarily fit what our journey will be like.  It was, however, a blessing to hear her story and see this little boy loving on his mom and obviously happy to be with his Forever Family!  We then went over all the paper work that will need to be filled out, finger printing for back ground checks, physicals, and questionnaires that have 19 pages!!!  And this is only the beginning.  There will be many many more forms that need to be filled out before this process is done.  Luckily for me I enjoy filling out forms.  It relaxes me  for some odd reason and give me a sense of accomplishment.  I guess that's what being a stay at home mom has done to me.=)

The next step is an "Intake Interview" with the manager at the agency.  We will go over some of the forms we have already filled out so they can get a better sense of who we are and what we are looking for.  This will be a 2 hour interview with both Josh and I.  Can't wait to get started!

Blessings,

  1. Hello Joshua and Jamie,

I read a brief article in the Coastal View about a fundraiser for your adoption process. I am wondering if you are familiar with Gold Coast Orphan Alliance (http://www.weheartorphans.org/). If not, please check it out.

One aspect of their ministry vision is to provide grants to help families with adoption. This organization is founded by two local families who have recently adopted. They are sponsoring an event at the First Presbyterian Church in Ventura for Orphan Sunday (Sunday, November 7 · 3:00pm - 5:00pm). You can meet others with a heart for adoption and find out more about the organization.
